Went out to a restaurant by myself (I do that a lot)

There was an old man eating lunch with a younger lady.

He said to her "How old am I?"

She said "You are ninety three"

He couldn't hear her so she kept getting louder

"NINETY THREE, NINETY THREE..."

He still didn't understand so she pulled out a pen, wrote it down and passed it to him.

He said "I'm ninety three???"

"Yes dad, that's how old you are."

When I finished eating I went to get my dad a card for Father's Day. I started reading the cards and then I started BAWLING(I do that a lot too) so I left Shopper's regained my composure and went to Hallmark. I got him a cute little card with a cat on it, maybe it's a little girly for a dad.

I always wondered what it was like to have a dad. But now I have my in-laws, so I guess the answer is.. if you wait long enough, you will find the answers to all your questions =)

Father's Day is weird for me since my stepdad died. My biological father was not a significant influence in my life to warrant a card and my father-in-law just gets a card from both hubby and me. The important card is the one I get from my 3 year old to his dad; that one I take a lot of time picking because I think it's the most special.

Oh, well, even if the card is a bit girly, it is the thought that counts, right? And woohoo for Rob Thomas!!! How can you just not love this guy!

That's why I bought a funny card and a gift card for a steak place...

Rob Thomas is too pop-y now.

I called my dad On Saturday and he was getting ready to go out to dinner with my sister and brother. I felt homesick for a moment.

Cat card is nice

I like the first little poem thing. I like how it starts out saying "no more". It makes it sound like it's from a deeper, more hurt part of the soul... almost child like... then at the end the "Anymore" makes it sounds like you are coming to terms with things and the pain is on the surface instead of so deep within.

did your pop cry when you gave it to him?

What an interesting mix of poetry, observation, and insight. This felt like a true slice of life....just a glimpse into the flash of a day. Wow.

My Wife puts so much pressure on me for the cards I get her, especially for Valentine's Day. Now it's to the point that if the card doesn't almost make me cry then it isn't good enough. I know at some point I'm just not going to be able to cut it and then I'll just end up getting her a card with a doggie farting or something, but in the meantime I feel like Dave Chapelle, except that I would never go to South Africa to check myself into a looney bin. In fact, I would never go to South Africa to check anything.

There was a point to all of this. What was it?
