Specialness

I know that's not a word.

Anyway...I don't have it. I don't think I have anything that makes people say "Robin's really good at that, let's ask her." I can, however, think of something (or several things) that most of the people I know do so well that I would ask them to help me with it, or their opinion of it. It's part of their identity you know? Do you know what your specialness is?

robin, i think you are special.

like special olympics special.

(hee.)

as for my own special-ness, i would give the shirt off the back to a good friend, but to my enemies i would probably give them the shirt too, but it would be coated with itching powder or something else equally annoying and/or disgusting.

Robin, I'm thinking you need to learn how to whistle..hee hee! I am the filler of sippy cups. The maker of breakfast/lunch/dinner and snacks. The changer of stinky diapers. The checker of homework. The laundrymaster. That's the little known sequal to The Beastmaster, you know. Once upon a time, I had my own identity and once in awhile I still catch a glimpse of it, but for the time being it is buried underneath my family. You know what I think you are really good at? SARCASM. You always make me laugh with your smart ass posts. So nyeah...I found something for you.

HKD is also so good at creating awesome templates, and being so real, so raw and honest that it should be scary for her, but it's great for her readers.

Laura is also so completely awesome at taking pictures that it blows my mind. You have an amazing eye and I want to be just like you when I grow up! :)

(and I'm not just saying this girls I mean it)

i have felt the same way for a long time. recently, though, i learned that it's better to be well-rounded and good at several things than to be absolutely great at only a few things. people like us get by with more ease, i think. oh, and apparently my true talent is problem solving. who knew that was a talent?! ha.

But you are! You're an expert at being you. And thank God for that!!

It is funny you used this word "specialness." I recently wrote down my feelings for this woman that I have loved for 9 years, but never even kissed. I know she loves me, but the timing has never been right. Anyway, in my "Declaration" of love for her I used that word, specialness. Now I just have actually tell her. (There is a bit of a distance that is hampering recent communication.)

I'm an expert at spelling. Usually. Not quite Websters, but I usually know the right word, the correct placement of the comma, colons, that sort of thing.
I have one friend who knows, or seems to know, some one who knows everything. Got a question about ancient Mycinean pottery? Just ask, and she knows someone who...I swear, she's the very coolest person I know.

There is nothing special about me. I have brown hair, brown eyes, average skin, average height (they same I'm taller than average, but not if you don't include the midgets and Bette Midler), and everyone tells me I look like someone else (Artful Laura said I look like Steven Segal.) Even my name is average. If being average to the point of invisibility is special, then that is my thing.

I know that feeling. I have sat and wondered what my 'specialness' was. I didn't want it to be something lame like being a 'good friend', or a really 'talented listener'. I know I have skills -- I just want them to be special. I so totally get it.

Btw, you helped me play with my blog look. I went to you about that. :)

Spider - An expert at being me....well that is true! Thanks! And you keep on being you!

Madame DeBarge - I like spelling myself...maybe we should get together and have a spelling bee.

Memphis Steve - Bette Midler....heh heh

~J~ Anytime!

Well, everyone has something special, I don't know you well enough to judge what your special quality, but I am 100% sure that it is there, while you might not even be aware of it! My ex-boyfriend used to always flatter me with telling me all these awesome qualities of me and I wasn't even aware of most of the things I apparently do, so ..... chin up and eat a donut!
